About Joy J. Kaimaparamban

My real name is John Joseph and assumed ‘Joy J. Kaimaparamban’ as the pen name.

I was born on October 1939 in a middle class family of Kerala, the south most state of India.

After education I became a schoolmaster. Worked in several Kerala government schools teaching English language in middle school classes and retired in 1995. Now residing at Vayalar, a beautiful lakeside village in Alappuzha (Alleppey) district with my wife and two children.

From early childhood I acquired the habit of reading. It grew into the craze of reading all kinds of books, fiction and non-fiction. I could read so many works of the old masters when I was in high school classes. Afterwards I read creations of modern writers. Because of the reading habit, my studies were badly affected by it. Wrote several books including works for children in Malayalam, my mother tongue. Two novels won awards.

Before retirement I have had an idea of writing novels in English. I felt the people around me being characters of unattempted works.

After retirement I started writing my first novel in English, ‘The Azure of Solicitude’. By 1998 I could complete the work and tried making it perfect.

As my soul had been filling with new outlines I could not sit as an idol. I began moving my pen for the creation of new novels. Among it, the second one ‘The Ayurvedic Healer’ reflects the time between 1919 and 1956. The story is based on the life of an Ayurvedic Physician, who lived for treating all kinds of diseased persons without caring their creed, caste, community and religion.

Another one 'The Wildfire' is in the backdrop of Malabar Riot, which was occurred following the First World War. It started as a liberty struggle and grew into a big riot causing the killing of numerous innocent people and was suppressed by the military force of Britain who had been ruling India at the time.

'The Land of Forgs' is a work for children. It is the story of the country of frogs ruled by the King Goldine.

Now I am in the creation of my new novel, which is yet to named. This novel describes the story of fishermen liviing on the shore of Arabian Sea. I am trying to depict the beauty of Alleppey (Venice of the East), the poor village life etc. I believe this will be a new experience to the readers.
